Household Hazardous Waste Program

In 2008, the Solid Waste Department renewed the contract with Environmental Enterprises, Inc. of Cincinnati to have drop-off events where residents can bring in their household hazardous waste.

The dates for 2008 are April 26, July 19 and October 11. The hours are 8 am to noon. The drop-off location will be at the Miami County Fairgrounds underneath the grandstand. Come in the Fairgrounds via Harrison Street.

Cost is $1.00 per pound.

Materials taken include:

• Paints (latex and acrylic). If the paint is in a solid form, then it can be thrown away in the regular trash.
  You can use kitty litter or sawdust to dry it out. Aerosol paint cans can also be taken. (10-15 gallons max)
• Strippers
• Pool chemicals
• Gasoline/Kerosene
• Fluorescent light bulbs
• Household cleaners
• Antifreeze
• Varnishes and Stains
• Wax/Adhesives/Sealants
• Pesticides
• Transmission Fluid
• Mercury
• Turpentine
• Fertilizers
• Unknown chemicals
